Interview: PRIMITIVE LONDON

Lui Nemeth and Andrew Grune spend most of their days in a tiny railway arch underneath Haggerston station in East London. The space, which is half the size of most Berlin kitchens, is home to PRIMITIVE LONDON, a fashion and art collective showcasing underground Japanese and British designers. The two are currently preparing for a one week pop-up shop in Berlin, running from October 7-14th at VOO. I met up with them to talk about the history of the shop and their plans for Berlin.

Etienne Descloux
Since the not so lovely summer says good bye by gifting us a lovely, but cold autumn, I thought it would be appropriate to once more remember the luscious summer greens, before everything is going to turn brown and yellow (and finally: grey). This is Etienne Descloux, dapper architect and smart commenter on everything architectural on our Facebook page, emerging from the midst of a green wall just next to the Spree.

At the studio: Sarah Illenberger
This is the illustrator Sarah Illenberger in her studio, only hours before her newest paper-sculptures were to be picked up to be installed in KadeWe's shop windows for an Hermès installation: a parade of a giant Kelly bag, huge wind mills and a flamingo made of ties. Being absolutely clumsy when it comes to glue, paper and scissors, I was wildly amazed by the thousands of small pieces attached and montaged to create the sculptures - you can see more pictures of her studio and the pieces on Vogue.de, where you can also find the "5 minutes interview".

At Home: Katharina Schnäcker
Katha was the very first person I met off the plane when I arrived to Berlin nearly four years ago, and it's likely that I would still be in Canada if it wasn't for her, so you have her to blame/thank. She's currently working as a freelance PR & Marketing consultant.
